Eight homes, each designed to sit within the village rather than stand apart from it.
Summer Meadow sits off Penfold Road on the edge of Cowfold, a small West Sussex village in the heart of the Weald. The village has a church, a pub, a primary school, and a sports pavilion. It is a settled, self-contained community of the kind that is increasingly rare in this part of Sussex, and the kind of place Remmus specifically looks for when choosing where to build.
The eight homes at Summer Meadow were built in three types, each suited to different households. The Yarrow is a two or three-bedroom semi-detached. The Foxglove is a three-bedroom detached with car barn. The Primrose is a four-bedroom detached with car barn and a kitchen, dining, and family room that runs the full width of the rear of the house.
The architecture is traditional: stock brick, natural slate and clay roof tiles, oak-framed porch detailing. The homes were designed to complement Cowfold’s existing character rather than introduce something jarring into a settled rural village.
Inside, the specification was consistent across all eight homes. Ted Todd character oak flooring throughout the ground floor. Shaker style kitchens with quartz worktops and fully integrated Bosch appliances. Bi-fold doors to the rear opening onto Indian sandstone patios and turfed gardens. Underfloor heating to the ground floor, thermostatically controlled radiators upstairs. CAT 5 cabling and USB sockets to master bedrooms. Built-in wardrobes to all bedrooms.
In 2020, Summer Meadow received recognition from the UK and International Property Awards. One of the most widely recognised programmes for excellence in residential development.
