There is a difference between a house and a home.
Remmus was founded on a straightforward belief: that every new home should be designed and built as if it were our own. Not to a brief that prioritises margin. Not from a catalogue of house types applied regardless of location. But with genuine care for the person who will live there, and for the place it will stand.
Sam Watling founded the company after years of building homes for both private clients and developers, and noticing where the two approaches diverged. The care, the consideration, the refusal to cut corners that came naturally when building for an individual: that was what was missing from mainstream new build development. Remmus was created to close that gap.

Our management team are involved at every stage, from the moment a site is identified to the day a buyer moves in. Not in an oversight capacity. In a hands-on, every-decision-matters capacity.
Every development is small. That’s deliberate. It means every home gets the attention it deserves: design, construction, specification, and aftercare. Our buyers know who they’re dealing with. They know they can pick up the phone and reach someone who knows their home.
We build a small number of individually designed homes each year across Sussex. No two developments look the same, because no two locations are the same. The architecture, the materials, the layout: all of it responds to where the home sits, not to what’s easiest to replicate.

HOW WE CHOOSE OUR LOCATIONS
For us, an extraordinary location is non-negotiable.
No matter how considered the design or how high the specification, a home should always feel connected to its surroundings. When we assess a site, it often starts with instinct, does this place feel special? Can we create something truly beautiful here? And ultimately: would I want to live there myself?
We look for the outer fringes of sought-after Sussex villages and towns. Places that offer the right balance of lifestyle and practicality, good connections, amenities within reach, but space, calm, and a genuine sense of community.
Every location we build in is one we believe in. That’s not a policy. It’s just how we work.

WHAT WE BUILD WITH
The specification in a Remmus home isn’t a set of upgrades. It’s the starting point.
Every home is finished with materials and products chosen for how they feel as much as how they perform. Mandarin Stone, Ted Todd, Havwoods, and Cormar for floors and surfaces. Lusso Stone, Crosswater, and Quooker for kitchens and bathrooms. Miele and Bosch appliances. Samsung and Joule air source heat pumps as standard.
These aren’t choices made to impress on a specification sheet. They’re choices made because they’re right, and because we build every home as if we’re going to live in it ourselves.
