Hammonds Mill Place

Hammonds Mill Place sits down a private lane in the West Sussex countryside, set around a shared courtyard within a gated enclave. The South Downs National Park is on the doorstep. It is the kind of rural setting that is difficult to find close to established villages, and harder still to build on well.

The four homes were designed as contemporary barn buildings — dark Millboard cladding, handmade Brookhurst clay roof tiles or natural slate depending on the plot, black Origin aluminium windows and doors, Freshfield Lane brick to lower elevations. No two are the same in form or footprint. Plots 1 and 3 read as paired barn conversions. Plot 2 is larger, with a double-height glazed gable and a loft room. Plot 4 is in a category of its own: 4,187 square feet across three floors, a separate double garage with gym and games room above, and three acres of private grounds with woodland.

Inside, the specification is the current Remmus standard throughout. Individually designed kitchens by Windmill Kitchens, with Quartz Marble White worktops and Quooker taps. Ted Todd Raw Cotton Chevron flooring to ground floor living rooms, studies, and kitchen/family rooms. Mandarin Stone Di Scacchi tumbled marble to entrance halls. Little Greene Slaked Lime to walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Bosch Series 8 appliances throughout (Miele to Plot 4). Crosswater and Burlington sanitaryware across bathroom and en-suites, finished with Mandarin Stone tiling. Samsung air source heat pumps, Joule underfloor heating to ground floor, EV charging to every plot, CAT 5 cabling throughout.
