It seems ironic that the national festival of sleep day falls on the 3rd of January, just one week after the Christmas holidays! This is usually the time that we spend a good amount of time curled up on the sofa, watching a movie, and we find ourselves drifting off for an ‘after-dinner’ nap. If you’re lucky enough to have had some time off over Christmas, then we all know that it’s a combination of the delicious food, activities and long winter walks that usually contributes to this nap.

By the time the 3rd of January comes around, the majority of us are back into the swing of things, with our daily routines. May that be going back to work, fighting through the daily school run, fitting in a morning jog, or your weekly social activities. But by this time, we surely shouldn’t need a festival of sleep day?

Well, we think otherwise! Here at Remmus Homes, we believe that the Christmas holidays are incredibly busy with social activities, seeing family and friends and getting organised for the big day, that we actually have less sleep throughout this time. We find ourselves falling asleep on the sofa because we are exhausted. As we all know, sleep plays a pivotal role in our lives and it is the basic human function to help our body regain energy for the next day and the next day after that.

Although you might be back to work on the 3rd of January, we recommend as soon as your day ends, you head home, climb into bed, snuggle under the duvet and let your body embrace the national festival of sleep day. And what a better place to do this, then in the comfort of your own ‘Remmus Home’?

For those of you who are off today or perhaps you don’t work Fridays, we recommend treating yourself to a duvet day, in your comfortable pyjamas. Pick the sofa or the bed and enjoy a day of R&R.
